Announcing GenesisMars: A New Frontier in High-Performance Planetary Simulation
VESTAL, NY – April 08, 2026 – Diamond Visionics LLC, an industry leader in high-performance geospatial visual simulation, is proud to announce the completion of a contract through Metis to NASA’s Langley Research Center in Hampton, Virginia to deliver GenesisMars, a high-fidelity Martian visual simulation environment built upon our GenesisRTX rendering engine. This simulation is designed to support critical Martian landing and rover operations.

Overcoming the Challenges of the Red Planet
Developing a realistic Martian environment required Diamond Visionics to solve complex atmospheric and geological problems. Unlike Earth, where Rayleigh scattering creates a blue sky, the Martian atmosphere is thin and dominated by dust. “We were successful in creating a physics-based atmospheric model to properly represent Mars,” said Daniel Peters, Sales Manager at Diamond Visionics. “Because Martian air is thin and filled with fine grained hematite, the daytime sky is typically a red-orange color. However, during dawn and dusk, the GenesisMars atmospheric scattering model creates the unique blue halo around the sun phenomenon by mathematically accounting for the hematite content in Martian dust.”

Advanced Rendering and Technical Capabilities
Built on the powerful GenesisRTX rendering engine, GenesisMars leverages modern GPU architecture and multi- core processors to provide real-time visualization directly from GIS source data. Key technical features include:
- Direct-from-Source Rendering: Provides a physics-based scene with no pre-built database required
allowing for instant updates with future data. - Procedural Detail Texturing & Gap Filling: Overlays high-resolution data on real-world imagery and fills
visual gaps to ensure a seamless experience for pilots and operators. - Precision Ephemeris Modeling: Driven by JPL’s SPICE toolkit, the software provides accurate positions
for the sun and moons (Phobos and Deimos) at any specified time. - True Round Planet Modeling: Utilizes a Mars-centered-Mars-fixed coordinate system, allowing users to
view the planet from orbit or directly on the surface. - Dynamic Environments: Supports the addition of moving models and static features like rocks and
craters, all updated continuously during runtime.
